Every industry faces challenges of making price vs. quality decisions when purchasing goods and raw materials. Read about the real life benefits of choosing China Steel.
It is extremely disheartening to learn of construction projects taking place throughout America that are not being completed with U.S. made steel. In most cases, the contractors involved are looking to imported steel because the prices are lower. It is important to remember, however, that in life you get what you pay for and this case of choosing construction materials is certainly no different.
The fact is the initial upfront costs associated with not choosing American made steel can be greater than choosing its overseas counterpart. However, what you give up in initial cost you gain back in durability and quality. Plus there are additional advantages that comes with choosing steel products that are made right here in the United States.
Benefit #1 – Supporting the U.S. Economy
Throughout our nation’s history, the steel manufacturing industry has played an important role. In fact, it’s one of the few things that economists and politicians agree on – this industry is essential for economic health and the creation of jobs in America. By providing this financial foundation, the industry in turn has a major impact on the culture and the well being of the population.
The health of the steel industry affects the success of many other industries throughout America because it not only stimulates the economy, but also promotes innovation, infrastructure and technology as well.
In his research, Timothy J. Considine, a University of Wyoming energy economic professor, described how the steel industry creates a chain reaction among other industries. In short, he found that one job in the steel industry supported seven additional jobs in the American economy.
Benefit #2 – Protect the Planet
Financial considerations aside, most – if not all – people can agree that it is important to keep our environment and atmosphere as clean as possible. If there are ways that we can reduce our carbon footprint and reduce pollution, we should take them. Over the last decade, the American steel industry has made many efforts to do just that.
Unfortunately, other countries have not been so ecofriendly in their manufacturing practices. The leading global producer of steel right now is China, who just also happens to be leading the way in harmful emissions. According to the Alliance for American Manufacturing, China’s steel industry produces 18 times more particulate matter, 3 times more nitrogen oxides and 5 times more sulfur dioxide than U.S. steel manufacturers.
By purchasing American made steel, consumers can enjoy the peace of mind that they are contributing to an industry that is making efforts to develop more sustainable and cleaner manufacturing methods.
Benefit #3 – Increase Safety and Infrastructure
Steel is often used to complete major projects such as the building of skyscrapers and expansive bridges. It is essential that these structures are built with the highest quality materials in order to ensure the safety of all those who utilize them. This is yet another reason to choose U.S. produced steel over other imported products.
It is not difficult to find evidence that China does not have manufacturing safety standards that are as high as American standards for production. Numerous major media outlets have recently reported that products that were made in China have included sulfurous dry wall, children’s toys that included lead, as well as pet food products that contained melamine and other harmful contaminants.
Additionally, it has been documented that between July 2011 and July 2013, six bridges across China collapsed. A Chinese news agency recognized that these bridges collapsed due in part to subpar building materials and poor construction. This is certainly not the type of materials we want used in bridge projects here in the US.
When purchasing China Steel, contractors and consumers can significantly reduce the risk that they will be receiving products that are any less than they claim to be. American manufacturers are proud to meet high quality and safety standards as they represent this very important manufacturing industry, and with this in mind it’s certainly easier to justify the investment.
